Your self-image is crucial not only for your success, but for your well-being. And it’s tied with your ability to perform. There is a good quote that sums it up well – “You will never earn more than your self-image will allow you”.

Many of us have a self-image that doesn’t represent the true you.

What does that mean? It means that a lot of us hold beliefs and images in their mind that are not congruent with whom they truly are. And as all of you know – if you think about something long enough, it will become your reality.

So a lot of people are unconsciously sabotaging their health, business success and relationships, by holding an inadequate self-image.

Earl Nightingale had a video about this. He offered 4 steps for finally “curing” your self-image and getting it back to high level.

The very first step is simple enough – Forgive others.

Yes, you must start with that, it’s the basis of good self-image.

And don’t kid yourself that you somehow can’t forgive a particular person. Just grow up. You can forgive anyone if you want it badly enough.

Then forgive yourself. A lot of us hold some grudges against ourselves for something important we didn’t do in the past. Or for something we said. That’s all irrelevant. Give yourself a break.

We always are much stricter when it comes to ourselves, but why we do that? It doesn’t do us any good. Try to be more objective and don’t blame yourself if you failed to do something. Just try again, it’s all part of the game.

3rd step of improved self-image is to look at yourself at your best.

You can always choose how you want to start your day – in a bad mood or in a great mood. It just takes a decision, sometimes it’s hard to do it (if you feel particularly down), but all you need to know is that it’s possible.

And last fourth step is to keep up with yourself.

Some people try to use other people’s life rhythms. They try to do things too fast, or too slow. Don’t pay attention how others are living. You have your own tempo, use it. Don’t worry if everything seems slow at first, you will eventually get there.

Work on your self-image and never give up!
